Neck Pain, Stiffness, Headaches and Migraine

There could be many reasons for neck pain or stiffness, and headaches come in various guises as well, such as cervicogenic, tension, cluster, and migraine. Headaches are either primary, or secondary. Primary headache is where the headache is the problem, and not a symptom of something else. A secondary headache is where the headache is a symptom of something else, the most common secondary headache is probably the one people endure after consuming too much alcohol the previous night!

A chiropractor can help with your neck pain and stiffness by restoring the natural movement and motion of your neck via chiropractic adjustment. You may experience a lot of neck pain or stiffness if you work at a desk or a computer all day, or play a contact sport like rugby and are in scrums, or have a job that entails you reaching overhead for long periods like a plasterer, for example. As with all things neck pain and stiffness will vary in severity.

Headaches and migraines could be helped by some basic lifestyle changes, such as cutting down on caffeine and alcohol, also adopting good posture and drinking more water can be useful. There is a direct correlation between primary headaches and the neck. Therefore chiropractic treatment for headaches is often nearly identical to what you would get for neck pain and stiffness due to this direct correlation. With migraine type headaches, Chiropractic treatment has proven effective at helping to prevent and reduce their frequency, and there are many case studies that show a chiropractor can help in some way to reduce and relieve the symptoms of the migraine as well as help prevent them.
